We are thrilled to introduce an exciting expansion in our fertiliser range! Our all-new SLOW RELEASE: Sandy Soil Fertiliser and SLOW RELEASE: Clay Soil Fertiliser have arrived.

Here at The Grass People, we are always looking for ways to help you create the best lawn possible. That’s why we have launched two new, specialised fertilisers, designed specifically for the two most common challenging soil types: clay and sandy soils.

Unsure if you have clay or sandy soil in your garden? Read our blog on how to identify your soil type.

What makes these fertilisers so special

Clay and sandy soil conditions have specific nutritional needs that need to be fulfilled for grass to thrive. We have tailored these new, premium fertilisers to provide the perfect balance of nutrients for these soil types, to keep your grass healthy and vibrant all season long!

Using fertilisers not specified for a specific soil type will still provide your lawn with a good base level of essential nutrients, however for the best results with clay or sandy soil lawns, you will want to opt for a fertiliser tailored to the needs of your soil.

Fertiliser for clay soil

Clay soils are heavy, sticky when wet, have poor drainage and are often prone to waterlogging. However, this soil type also retains nutrients well, so we have developed the SLOW RELEASE: Clay Soil Fertiliser with this in mind. It contains 0% Phosphate as to not overload the nutrient-rich ground it is already abundant in, too much Phosphate would result in grass roots developing less effectively. This fertiliser also has high levels of Nitrogen and Potassium which is crucial for protection against disease and improving grass colour.

Fertiliser for sandy soil

Sandy soil, on the other hand, is the complete opposite to clay soil as it has a dry, gritty texture and low water retention. This means essential nutrients are not retained well in this soil. To combat this, our SLOW RELEASE: Sandy Soil Fertiliser is high in Nitrogen. This aids in preventing these essential nutrients from leaching from soil, providing a better environment for your grass to grow tall and strong! It also has high levels of Potassium which are crucial for moisture control and drought tolerance.

How to use

When to apply

These fertilisers are designed for use in Spring/Summer and offer a steady supply of nutrients over a 12 week period, perfect for maintaining your lawn during peak season!

How to apply

Using a spreader, apply the fertilisers at a 35g per m² rate. It’s best to apply when rain is due, otherwise make sure to water the fertiliser in until it dissolves.

Avoid applying when conditions are extremely hot and dry as this can cause the fertiliser to scorch your lawn!
