Sowing with Clover All Over – 100% Clover Seed

  1. Dig the soil to a depth of 20-25 cm.
  2. Remove weeds by hand or with a weed killer.
  3. Add topsoil if there are dips in the area or if it's uneven.
  4. Rake the area to create a level seedbed.
  5. Let the seedbed sit for 10-14 days to encourage weed growth, then remove any weeds by hand.
  6. Sow the seed at a rate of 10g per m² using a seed spreader or by hand.
  7. Rake the seed into the soil.
  8. Firm the soil by foot or with a roller to enhance seed-to-soil contact.
  9. Water the freshly sown seed thoroughly.

Clover germinates and grows best when sown 5-10mm beneath the soil surface. A helpful guideline is to cover the seed with soil equivalent to the thickness of three stacked £1 coins.

Aftercare carrat-down

Aftercare:

  • Continue to water the sown area deeply and daily for the next six weeks until the clover is established; avoid watering if there is prolonged rainfall.
  • Once the clover has germinated, it needs watering to prevent drying out and keep it green.
  • Your clover will not need to be mowed as regularly as a traditional lawn. Mow as required to keep an even look and control blossoming if preferred.
  • Clover does not require any fertiliser as it is self-feeding, and adding fertiliser can damage its growth.
